Types and Features of Treadmills

Different Models and Brands of Treadmills

There are many different models and brands available on the market. These treadmills can range from basic models that cost a few hundred dollars to high-end machines that cost several thousand dollars.

Before making a purchase, it's important to consider what features you need in a treadmill. Do you want a machine with incline capabilities or one that can connect to your favorite fitness app? Do you need a larger running surface or one that folds up for easy storage? Determining your needs will help you narrow down the options and find the best fit for you.

Varying Features and Prices

Treadmills come with varying features depending on the model and brand. Some machines have built-in workout programs that automatically adjust the speed and incline based on your fitness goals, while others have touchscreens where you can stream workouts or watch TV shows. The more advanced features usually come with a higher price tag.

Another factor that affects the price of treadmills is their durability. Machines with composite running boards and commercial belts are more durable than those made from cheaper materials. They can withstand heavier usage without breaking down as quickly. However, they also tend to be more expensive than their less durable counterparts.

Standard Size Treadmill Mats

Standard size treadmill mats are available for purchase separately to protect floors from scratches caused by moving parts such as wheels or rollers underneath the machine during use. These mats help reduce noise levels when using the machine indoors.

When shopping for a mat, make sure it's large enough to accommodate your treadmill's footprint while also providing some extra space around it. This will ensure that any debris or sweat doesn't fall off onto your floor during use.

Motor and Belt Size

The motor and belt size of a treadmill determine its maximum speed and weight capacity. A larger motor can handle higher speeds, while a wider belt can accommodate heavier users. The horsepower (HP) rating of the motor is an important factor to consider when purchasing a treadmill. A higher HP rating means the machine can handle more weight and provide smoother operation at higher speeds.

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. While there are some budget-friendly options out there, investing in a high-quality machine with advanced features and durable materials will likely result in a better overall experience.

Walk or Run Your Way to a Healthier Lifestyle with Progressive Workouts

Cardiovascular workouts for an active lifestyle

Cardiovascular workouts are essential for maintaining an active lifestyle, and one of the best ways to achieve this is through treadmill workout programs. Whether you prefer walking or running, treadmills provide a convenient and effective way to get your heart pumping and improve your overall fitness.

Treadmill workouts allow you to target specific areas of your body and customize your exercise routine according to your fitness goals. For example, if you want to focus on improving your cardiovascular health, you can choose a program that increases your heart rate gradually over time. Alternatively, if you're looking to build strength in your legs and glutes, you can select programs that incorporate incline training.

Intensive cardio exercises on a treadmill with auto incline

One of the most significant benefits of using a treadmill is the ability to perform intensive cardio exercises with automatic incline features. By increasing the incline level on the treadmill, you can simulate running uphill and engage more muscles in your lower body.

Intensive cardio exercises help burn calories quickly while also improving cardiovascular health. When using a treadmill with auto-incline features, it's easy to adjust the settings as needed during each workout session. This ensures that you're continually challenging yourself and making progress towards achieving your daily fitness goals.

Training programs for improved fitness goals

Treadmills offer various training programs designed explicitly for different fitness goals. These programs provide step-by-step instructions that guide users through their workouts while tracking progress along the way.

For instance, if weight loss is one of your primary fitness goals, some treadmills offer weight loss-specific programs that combine high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with steady-state cardio sessions. On the other hand, if endurance training is what you're after, there are specific programs designed explicitly for this purpose.

By incorporating these training programs into your daily routine, you can work towards achieving your fitness goals while also toning your body. The automatic incline feature on some treadmills ensures that you're working out all the major muscle groups in your lower body, resulting in a toned physique.

Incorporating treadmill exercises for a healthier lifestyle

Incorporating treadmill exercises into your daily routine is an excellent way to lead a healthier lifestyle and improve overall health. Treadmills are incredibly versatile and offer numerous workout options that cater to different fitness levels and preferences.

By using a treadmill regularly, you can boost your cardiovascular health, improve endurance, burn calories, and build strength in different parts of the body. Moreover, regular exercise has been linked to improved mental health and better sleep quality.

Endurance SPT 1 year ownership review

This review is for the Endurance SPT after 1 year of ownership.

I'll start by saying the online support prior to delivery was excellent. Our treadmill was purchased just prior to Christmas 2023 whilst on sale through Endurance's official Amazon shop. We were departing for holidays within a few days and were in the predicament of possibly having the treadmill delivered whilst being away. We reached out and their support was very good and responsive, and were able to organise from memory a next day delivery (we live in Sydney).

The treadmill is a medium size and weight, giving it a solid enough feel in build quality and stability, however remaining light enough to be easily moved around by myself or wife if needed. As other reviews may have mentioned, set up may be quite difficult if done alone, however instructions and steps are itself easy.

Here are my likes, dislikes, and observations from the last year of ownership.

Likes:
User interface - simple as a treadmill should be with large buttons as well as controls on the handles
Running belt - made of a hard-wearing plastic material which provides plenty of grip however also won't cause friction burns on intermittent skin contact (safer with children)
Form factor - Being able to fold up the treadmill and move it around the house is great
Speed and incline options - More than enough settings for 99% of the population
Finish - The materials used and the coatings on the frame are good quality and show almost no wear from a year of use

Dislikes:
Heartrate sensors - Located on the handles, these sensors are probably only for those continuously walking. They take too long to establish a reading (e.g. walking after conducting a run)
Lack of waterproofing - This may sound silly, however I myself generate a lot of sweat during a run, and there are a couple vulnerable points on the treadmill where water/sweat may ingress. These include the speed/incline adjustment buttons on the handles, the usb port, and the speakers. This vulnerability is serious enough that even after a wipe down after every use, I have had an instance where the treadmill was unable to turn on for multiple days in a row due to this. To combat this I now have to drape a towel over the whole upper section of the treadmill when in use by myself.

Other observations:
Size of the track - I am 175cm tall and find the track a perfectly adequate size for running. I would still say the track size does initially take getting used to and you will find yourself consciously aware of the sides and end of the track, however this is no longer a factor.
Somewhat limited quick-select speeds - I think more space on the interface should be dedicated to adjusting the speed and less controlling the incline. Quick-select buttons on the screen interface only go up in speeds of 2km/h up to 10km/h which can mean constantly holding down the increase button for a short while if you want to run at speeds greater than 10km/h (only increases in increments of 0.1km/h per press).
Pricing - I think at the time whilst on sale, this treadmill was a very good purchase and great value, however whilst writing this review there are currently some other comparable treadmills which I would say are very competitively priced.
